Sketching, Hitchin
I've been out making the most of the warm autumn weather. Filled seven pages of my sketch book with the above images and the brass band was done on the iPad. I was pleased with all thse and can see my work improving I wasn't too happy with the guy on the guitar - he was, though, when I gave him the picture!

Sketching, St Albans
Photos from my sketchbook after a morning sketching in St Albans. The fruit and veg market stall holder asked for photos of those three sketches and I said yes, in return for two heads of broccoli. Result! I am wondering if the sketches are a little messy, but I am working very quickly and don't want to get bogged down in detail.

Sketching, Hitchin
I am making the most of the warm late summer sunshine to get out sketching as much as possible. The lady and the dog picture is an iPad sketch, the rest were pen and ink. It was French Market day in Hitchin.

‘Offtoberfest’, Offley Hoo Farm
'Offtoberfest' at Offley Hoo Farm. A small and friendly event and people kept talk8bg to me so I didn't feel I really settled down to much drawing. Still, I got some free food in exchange for the pictures of the guy cooking.

Sketching, Hitchin
More sketching. Pen/ink/wash and a few iPad people. I am trying to find a practical positioning of the sketches on an A4 sheet so that they have a pleaseing border around them and nit too small that I feel cramped in sketching. I have settled on using fountain pens and Rohrer and Klingner ink which is waterproof and lightfast; with a watercolour wash of Payne's Grey. I am finding the sketches with background buildings in a bit more challenging to do and I am often just workin
