Speedwell and Small Whites
This has taken me a while to complete as I wasn’t at all sure in what direction to take it. To me, it is a bit scruffy as I kept dipping in and out and didn’t quite get a flow going. It was an interesting challenge which, in the end, worked fairly well.

Chilli
One cat, two portraits! A work colleague asked me if I would draw her cat, Chilli. She was so excited when I showed her the cartoon picture first that I almost didn’t need to have done the main illustration! She loved them both. Which was nice.

Sketching in Harpenden
A pleasant hour and twenty minutes worth of skecthing this in Harpenden today. I haven’t yet produced many what I would call ‘proper’ illustrations this year. At work I spent a couple of months using the iPad to produce new illustrations which, in my view, were along side the best I have ever done. Alder Carr
I am siting on a fallen tree in a small area of alder carr near Hitchin. I have cycled passed it many times but never stopped to look at it in detail, now, on a bright and warm spring day I push my bike down off the road through young nettles to observe it more closely. During the winter, this area is often underwater to a depth of several feet. The exposed alder roots clearly show how deep they can be submerged.
